How to enable Android Market in the Google Android emulator
Nowadays, everyone knows that they can install an Android Emulator on their personal computers. It is a virtual mobile packed along with the Android SDK, which runs on your computer and can be used to develop and test Android applications without purchasing an Android device. Would you want to try out some Android applications from the Android Market on your desktop or laptop? Well, there are few simple steps to do it.
- Download the System Image zip file for Android 1.5 or Android 1.6 (whichever needed) from HTC website’ http://developer.htc.com/google-io-device.html‘.
- After Downloading, extract the files of this zip folder. There will be system.img file that you will be needed afterward.
- Now, you have to create an Android Virtual Device, which has the Android Market installed. You can download it from here – http://www.4shared.com/file/147420185/da5381e1/avd.html. The file size is around 55MB.
- When the downloading is finished, extract the RAR files in a folder.
- Now, open your Android folder in other windows, it will be in –
- For XP – C:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\.android\avd
- For Vista and Seven – C:\Users\(yourusername)\.android\avd
- For Both – go to run and enter the following command “%userprofile%/.android/avd” (without quotes).
- Now, copy the file that you have downloaded in previous step into this folder.
- In the avd folder, open the file named AndEmu.ini in a text editor. After opening the file, replace the user with your username and save the configuration file.
- Star the new virtual Android, and run the AndEmu virtual machine by clicking on the Start button.
- If you have entered the correct information, then you will see that your new Android emulator is booting up.
- After booting, click on the Android logo and it will ask you for your Google Account. If you have a Google Account, click on the Sign In button or create a new account. You can also skip this process, but you will need your Google Account later, so it is better to ‘Sign In’ in this step.
- Once you have done with that, you will see Android Market link on the home screen of Android Emulator.
- Open the Android Market by clicking on the Market link. You can now browse and download free and paid applications from the Android Market.
Finally, you can run Android Market on your Android Emulator.
Hack your iPhone – Run it on Android

Bootlace is an iOS application that allows you to install OpeniBoot (including OpeniBoot settings) and iDroid on your 2G or 3G iPhone. So, are you ready to make Google’s iPhone!
Before proceeding, check these pre-installation requirements –
- iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 1G
- You must have jailbroken your iPhone using Blackra1n, Pwnage Tool, or RedSnow.
- Turn Backgrounder off while using the Bootlace.
After checking pre-installation requirements –
- Open Cydia and add repository repo.neonkoala.co.uk to download the bootlace by tapping on the ‘manage’ and then ‘sources’.
- After adding the repository, install the Bootlace.
- The installation will not take too much of time. After installation is completed, tap on the button ‘Return to Cydia’.
- Then go to the home screen and tap on the Bootlace option.
- After clicking on the Bootlace option, it will automatically start downloading and patching the kernel.
- After the downloading and patching process, reboot your iPhone.
- After reboot, launch the Bootlace and install iDroid. It will give you one warning message, just tap the OK button to continue the installation process.
- When the iDroid installation is completed, tap on the OpeniBoot tab and install it. OpeniBoot installation is very important, so do not exclude this application.
- When the OpeniBoot installation is completed, tap on the configure button. It will give you the screen for configuring boot settings i.e. you can set the default operating system and time to display the boot options.
Congratulations, you have just made dual boot operating system on your iPhone. Now, you can run Android operating system on your iPhone without purchasing the new Android device.
