No Need to Learn other Languages – Google Launches Translate Application on Android Smartphones.
Google launched a free Google Translate application for Android Smartphones, which allows users to translate chats instantly from one language to other and vice versa. Just speak the word and Google Translation application will do the rest for you. The application is available for download at Android Market and requires Android 2.1 or higher operating system.
Google has introduced Google Translate application with the drop-down menus, which helps users to select the languages for translation. You have to just press a key for your language in conversation mode and start speaking. It will then translate your speech and interpret the translation loud on the receiver phone. On the receiver end, the person responds in his/her language and Google Translate will read the translated speech back to you. The interface of Google Translate on the mobile phone looks like a chat application with dialogue boxes, which seems to be that they are using text to speech and speech to text for the translation process.
For translation, Google Translate records the user speech and send it to the main server, which then send back the translated speech to the application. However, the translation only works for English and Spanish languages and factors like fast talking, background noise or regional dialects could affect the translation process. But, Google is going to introduce more languages soon and translate service will be fully functional within 18 months.
Google Translate application is in emerging phase, so you can experience few bugs in the application. However, this application is a giant leap forward in the mobile technology, which taken by the giant industry, Google. As Android Smartphones has been spread across the globe, this application will become more sophisticated with the help of users around the world.
